At the ongoing National Games in Goa, a triathlon event took an unexpected turn when two athletes were stung by jellyfish at Miramar Beach. Additionally, another triathlete suffered a leg fracture during the competition. The lifesaving agency responsible for beach safety and emergency care promptly responded to these incidents.

The athletes who encountered jellyfish stings received first aid, with lifesavers using vinegar, readily available at every lifesaving tower for such situations. The specific details about the affected athletes were not disclosed.

In a statement, a spokesperson from Drishti Marine, the Goa government's appointed lifesaving agency, confirmed that the athletes were attended to promptly. They emphasized that vinegar is a valuable resource for treating jellyfish stings.

Furthermore, a 16-year-old triathlete from Manipur who experienced a leg fracture during the running segment of the event also received immediate first aid. Following initial treatment, the injured athlete was transferred to the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital near the competition venue.

To ensure the safety of participants and spectators during the National Games, the agency has deployed a total of 16 experienced lifesavers. Additionally, two beach safety dogs and two AI-powered robots, Aurus and Triton, are working in coordination to maintain beach safety and crowd control during various sporting events.
