Max Verstappen equals Ayrton Senna's career victories after win at Canadian Grand Prix

Red Bull's Max Verstappen equalled Ayrton Senna's impressive tally of 41 Formula 1 victories with a win at the Canadian Grand Prix.

It was Verstappen's sixth victory in just eight races this season. It also proved to be a significant milestone for the Red Bull team since it was their 100th victory in Formula 1.

Verstappen's latest triumph propelled him to an outstanding 69-point lead in the championship standings. Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso showcased his skills by edging Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes on the track, securing a hard-earned 2nd place. Notably, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc displayed commendable resilience, recovering from an 11th-place qualifying position to secure a fourth-place finish.

Although Verstappen's winning margin of 9.5 seconds was the narrowest Red Bull has achieved over another team this season, it provides a glimmer of hope for the chasing pack. However, it was evident that the 25-year-old driver had more to offer and could have secured an even more commanding victory.

With only Alain Prost, Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton ahead of him in terms of victories, it is conceivable that Verstappen could surpass Prost's 51 wins and potentially challenge Vettel's 54 during the ongoing season, depending on his sustained dominance.

Verstappen's victory was the culmination of a stellar performance, starting from a brilliant pole position secured under wet conditions. With a remarkable 1.2-second advantage over the field, he swiftly converted his pole into an early lead at the first corner and masterfully maintained his pace, skillfully managing the intense battles that unfolded behind him.
