India win historic Gold in Equestrian Dressage Team event at Asian Games 2023, 3rd Gold so far

India made history on Tuesday afternoon with the Equestrian team winning gold in dressage, a first-ever Gold for the country in the event.

It was also the first Gold medal for India in the sport after 41 long years. India had previously won 3 Gold medals in the sport but all of them came way back at the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi.

The team of Anush Agarwalla, Hriday Cheeda, Divyakriti Singh and Sudipti Hajela finished the event with a total score of 209.25. China, who took the silver, finished with 204.882 points.

While Agarwalla garnered 71.088 points, Hriday Chheda is behind him with 69.941 points. Divyakriti Singh scored 68.176 and Sudipti Hajela collected 66.706 on Day 1.

Anush Agarwalla and Hriday Chheda's exceptional individual outings in Hangzhou, saw them finish in second and third place of the individual dressage standings at the end of Day 1, helping India to Gold in the team event.

It was also India's third Gold at the multi-sport event and their 3rd medal of the day, with the other two coming in Sailing.
