India have named South Africa's Craig Fulton as the new chief coach of the men's national hockey team.

Fulton replaces Australian Graham Reid, who quit after India's 9th-place finish at the World Cup.

The 48-year-old's rise to fame started with a stint with the Irish men's team where he helped the team qualify for the Rio Olympics in 2016, their first Olympic qualification in 100 years. The historic feat also won him the FIH Coach of the Year in 2015.

He also worked as Belgium's assistant coach en route to the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics. He was also part of the Belgian coaching staff during their 2018 World Cup win in Bhubaneswar.
