7 Gold, 9 Silver and 6 Bronze - The achievent was second to none. Since the introduction of Shooting in 1954, it marked India's highest-ever medal tally in a single edition. Their previous was in Jakarta in 2018, when India finished with 9 medals.
It was a doble bonanza for Kynan as he had earlier won gold in the men's team trap event along with Zoravar Singh, and Prithviraj Tondaiman.

Jaismine Lamboria on the other hand found herself in a tough bout and went down to North Korean pugilist in the 60kg category. She also missed out on the Olympic quota in Asian Games.
Jaismine was on top in Round 1 but things took a turn in Round 2 as Won Ungyong won the bout by referee stoppage just 1 second before the end of the second round.

Before this, Chahal wasn't a part of the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE and did not play a single match in the 2022 edition of the tournament despite getting selected.

India got double medals in men's 10,000 final as Kartik Kumar and Gulveer Singh won silver and bronze.

Top seed Swiatek overcame a second-set crisis and a third-set deficit to beat the unseeded Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and collect her third French Open trophy and fourth Grand Slam title.
A nervous-looking Muchova, competing in her first Grand Slam final, struggled to find her rhythm in the opening set but recovered from a break down in the second to steal five of six games on her way to levelling at one-set all.
An intense deciding set saw the pair trade numerous breaks in an epic finale, with Swiatek using all her experience to find winners when it mattered.
The 22-year-old Pole claimed the last three games of the match which ended in a disappointing double fault from Muchova.
Swiatek dropped her racket, hunched forward and covered her face as she cried.
She becomes the youngest woman with four Grand Slam trophies since Serena Williams was 20 when she got to that number at the 2002 U.S. Open.

After a major controversy, India's ace athlete Jyothi Yarraji clinched the silver medal in the 100m Hurdles race at the Asian Games 2023.&nbsp; Drama erupted in Hangzhou after Wu Yanni a Chinese hurdler protested that Yarraji had taken a false start. After review the officials demanded the disqualification of both hurdlers. However, they were allowed to participate after some discussions.&nbsp; Yarraji finished third clocking 12.91 seconds in the race. While Wu Yanni grabbed the 2nd spot, another Chinese Li Yunwei won the race.&nbsp; After a comprehensive review, Yarraji's result was updated to a silver medal finish and the Chinese athlete was disqualified. Interestingly Wu Yanni was also disqualified for a false start in teh Asian Athletics Championships in 2023, where Yarraji won gold.&nbsp;

India also won a gold in the Trap event in the shooting. Their medal tally will be expected to go up as they play on Day 9. India will be in action in Athletics, Canoe sprint, Kurash, and Table Tennis.&nbsp;

India's second silver medal in badminton at the continental championships with two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu winning the first in women's singles in the 2018 edition.

Injured HS Prannoy&rsquo;s absence hurt India as they went down fighting 2-3 against badminton powerhouse China to sign off with their first-ever silver medal in the men's team championships at the Asian Games.
After world No. 7 Prannoy was ruled out due to a back injury, Lakshya Sen produced a gutsy show in the first singles and doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty then bossed over their opponents to put India 2-0 ahead.
So, it was once again left to Srikanth to carry the team on his shoulders.
The former world No. 1, who had produced a gritty show against South Korea in the semifinals, couldn't go the distance this time despite a healthy lead and multiple game points as China fought back to make it 1-2.
The defending champions then won the remaining two matches to maintain their hegemony in the Asian Games.
With Prannoy missing the summit clash due to a back injury, Sen was handed the responsibility of leading the Indian charge.
Sen recovered from a mid-game slump to erase a five-point deficit in the decider and put India ahead with a 22-20 14-21 21-18 win over world No. 6 Shi Yuqi in an 83-minute opening slugfest.
World No. 3 men's doubles pair of Satwik and Chirag then went on a smashing spree to outclass world No 2. Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang 21-15 21-18 in 55 minutes to extend the lead to 2-0. Srikanth, however, squandered an 18-14 lead and multiple game points in the first game to go down 22-24 9-21 against All England champion Li Shifeng in the third singles to expose India's weakest link -- the second doubles and third singles matches.
Scratch pair of Dhruv Kapila and Sai Pratheek Krishna Prasad then lost 6-21 15-21 to world No. 8 Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi, while Prannoy's replacement Mithun Manjunath, ranked 53, went down 12-21 4-21 against world No. 20 Weng Hong Yang in the third singles as India finished second best.
Despite the loss, it is a creditable performance from the Indian team as it sealed India's second silver medal in badminton at the continental championships with two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu winning the first in women's singles in the 2018 edition.
The last time the Indian men won a badminton medal in the team championships was at the 1986 edition in Seoul where Sen's mentors Prakash Padukone and Vimal Kumar played a crucial role.
India now has 11 badminton medals in the Asian Games, including three individual singles medals, one silver and three bronze in the men's team, two women's team bronze and one medal each in men's doubles and mixed doubles

He finished the race with a timing of 8:19:50s and smashed the Asian Games record.
It was not only India's first track and field gold at Asian Games 2023 but he also became the first Indian ever to win 3000m steeplechase gold in Asian Games.
He had also won a silver at Commonweath Games 2022.

Competing in the women's 50kg category, Zareen lost a fiercely contested 50kg semifinal battle 2-3 to the Thai pugilist whom she had earlier defeated at the World Championship earlier this year.

Competing in the women's 50kg category, Zareen lost a fiercely contested 50kg semifinal battle 2-3 to the Thai pugilist whom she had earlier defeated at the World Championship earlier this year.
