Formula 1: Max Verstappen wins British Grand Prix, Red Bull equals all-time record

In a thrilling race at Silverstone, Max Verstappen showcased his exceptional skills by overcoming a slow start to claim victory at the British Grand Prix, securing his sixth consecutive Formula One win. The triumph not only solidified Verstappen's position as the championship leader but also propelled Red Bull to their 11th consecutive Grand Prix victory, matching the record set by McLaren in 1998.

Lando Norris, driving for McLaren, put up a remarkable fight against Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton to secure a hard-fought second place, while Norris' teammate Oscar Piastri achieved an impressive fourth-place finish.

George Russell, piloting the second Mercedes, crossed the finish line in fifth place, followed by Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez. Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, Alex Albon of Williams, and the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz completed the top ten.

Despite losing the lead to Norris at the start, Verstappen swiftly regained control on the fifth lap and held onto his position until the chequered flag.

Norris, who exceeded expectations with a surprise second-place qualifying position, maintained his strong performance throughout the race, fiercely defending his position against seven-time champion Hamilton. The battle between the two British drivers added to the excitement, resulting in Norris securing his best-ever finish alongside McLaren's most successful result since 2021.

Additionally, Oscar Piastri achieved a career-best finish, highlighting his potential in the sport.

Following his dominant victory, Verstappen now sits comfortably at the top of the championship standings with 255 points, holding a significant 99-point advantage over teammate Perez as the season reaches its halfway point. Alonso currently holds third place with 137 points, while Hamilton has closed the gap to 16 points, sitting on 121 points.
