Delhi court to hear Wrestlers' sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh today

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi is set to hear the wrestlers' case of sexual assault against former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on June 22.

A week after protesting wrestlers met Sports Minister Anurag Thakur the Delhi Police had filed a 1500-page chargesheet on June 15 elaborating statements of all six female wrestlers with supporting evidence.

The police who sought a response from wrestling federations of five countries in connection with the alleged incidents of sexual harassment by Singh might also file a supplementary chargesheet today. The notices were sent to the organisations seeking photos and video of the tournaments and CCTV footage of the places where the wrestlers stayed during their matches.

The police had also filed a cancellation report in the POCSO case against Brij Bhushan on June 15 and the next hearing regarding the cancellation report will be held on July 4.

In this case against Singh lodged on the basis of a complaint from six women wrestlers, the charge sheet has been filed for the offences under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment) and 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
