CBI finds 'incriminating documents' against Narinder Batra, registers case soon after resignation

CBI had earlier in April, launched a preliminary investigation against Batra for alleged misappropriation of Hockey India funds of Rs 35 lakhs. 

The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a case against Narinder Batra just hours after he resigned on Monday as the president of the Indian Olympic Association and Indian Hockey Federation.

CBI claimed that they found 'incriminating documents' during the raids at his IOA & Hockey India offices and residents in Jammu and New Delhi.

Apart from Batra, CBI also launched a probe against former Hockey India president Rajinder Singh, and ex-secretary general Mohammad Mushtaque Ahmad after illegalities were found in the renovation and furnishing of the office of the IOA president in 2018.

CBI had earlier in April, launched a preliminary investigation against Batra for alleged misappropriation of Hockey India funds of Rs 35 lakhs.

CBI stated that in 2018, the IOA president, without prior approval from the Executive Board of Hockey India allegedly got some renovations done. Later, to cover up the fraudulent expenditure, the accused fabricated and falsified records.
