Australian judge puts Novak Djokovic's deportation on hold for a few hours

Australian judge Anthony Kelly has put tennis star Novak Djokovic's deportation on hold for a few hours. The court hearing still going on as the Judge is currently questioning the Australian govt over what more Djokovic and his team could have done. The hearing started early on Monday morning in Melbourne as the court asked that Djokovic and his team could be moved to a 'desirable' location from where the Serbian tennis star could watch the court proceedings.

While Djokovic's team have presented their side of the case, the court is now questioning the government. While the proceedings continue in the court room, the judge has also put the deportation on hold as the previous time set to send the 20-time Grand Slam champion back was set at 4 pm local time. The judge has delayed the process till about 8 pm local time as the landmark case continues to be heard int he court.

In a bid to win a record breaking 21st Grand Slam, World Number 1 Novak Djokovic had landed in Melbourne to defend his Australian Open crown on Thursday but was immediately put in a detention at a refugee hotel. Djokovic according to reports failed to put out his vaccination details as the Australian Border Force didn't accept his medical exception certification.
