While the Australian Open begins on Monday, Djokovic's court hearing against Australia's decision of deporting the World No. 1 is on Sunday. The 20-time Grand Slam Champion who has been muddled in the visa controversy since his arrival due to his vaccination status was detained 24-hours prior to the scheduled hearing in court on Saturday.

Immigration minister Alex Hawke said that Djoko's presence in the country will foster anti-vaccination sentiments in the country and even spark an increase in civil unrest. His lawyers are appealing against the move that they are calling 'irrational'.

The court had earlier allowed the 9-time champion to play the Australian Open, however, the government went ahead and detained the champion for the 2nd time.
