After Sjoerd Marijne complains of delayed salary payment, SAI accuses him of data theft

The Sports Authority of India on Wednesday accused Sjoerd Marijne, former Indian women's team coach who guided the team at Tokyo 2020, of data theft. The blame came after the Dutchman said that he has not received his final salary and the 25-lakh rs reward promised by the UP government.

SAI called it a malicious attempt by Marjne who played a key role in India's 4th place finish at the Olympics, to paint a dark picture of Indian sports administration.

As per SAI's statement, Marijne has been paid his salary until Aug 7 2021 and the administration owes him only USD 1800 as he hasn't returned the 'laptop which has invaluable data' provided to him by SAI.

The SAI further said they will take legal action against him if he does not return the laptop. In reply, Marijne who is in the Netherlands clarified that he has already initiated the process of sending back the laptop, which had crashed during the Olympics.
