PM Modi Unveils National Sports Policy 2025 for Rural Outreach

New Delhi, Aug 15 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, committed to advancing sports initiatives in India's remote regions. The recently-approved National Sports Policy 2025 is key to achieving this objective.

"Our aim is to promote sports even in the most far-flung areas," Modi stated, emphasising the role of the new policy. The Union Cabinet, led by PM Modi, had given its nod to the National Sports Policy 2025 just last month. This policy marks a significant shift and is designed to transform India's sports landscape, stimulating citizen engagement through sports.

Replacing the National Sports Policy 2001, the updated version lays out a strategic vision to position India as a formidable force on the global sports stage. It is crafted to enhance India's competitiveness in international sporting events, with an eye on the 2036 Olympic Games.

The NSP 2025 is oriented towards developing a robust and inclusive sports ecosystem across the nation.
