New Delhi, Sep 15 (PTI) - Narinder Batra, the former president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), has been appointed as the chairman of the advisory board for the Association for Sports Industry Professionals (ASIP). The board also features Anju Bobby George, a world championship medallist in long jump.

The decision to form an advisory board was approved during the second management board meeting of the AIPS held on Sunday. This new advisory entity aims to "chart strategies and out-of-the-box policies" to further ASIP's mission of uniting professionals within India's sports ecosystem.

According to a press release from the AIPS, the advisory board is tasked with formulating high-level strategic roadmaps and pioneering policies. It will provide guidance on stakeholder alignment, governance, and commercial growth, and serve as a sounding board for innovative programs, research initiatives, and cross-sector partnerships.

While Batra is a seasoned sports administrator, Anju Bobby George holds the position of senior vice president at the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

ASIP founder and president Shaji Prabhakaran stated, "The involvement of these luminaries in our advisory board reflects ASIP's commitment to uniting every sports professional on one platform and reinforces the confidence of our 1,400+ members. With these distinguished leaders by our side, ASIP will emerge as a trailblazer, delivering real value, addressing critical policy gaps, and empowering sports professionals to contribute in a bigger way."

Prabhakaran is a former secretary general of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and has been associated with the sport in various capacities for many years.

Members of the ASIP Advisory Board include Narinder Batra (Chairperson), Anju Bobby George, Lloyd Mathias, Molina Asthana, and Himanshu Gautam.
