N Srinivasan Returns as CSK Chairman in Advisory Role

N Srinivasan takes an advisory role as chairman of CSK. His return is seen as beneficial by the team's CEO. He will manage CSK's involvement in SA20 and MLC tournaments. Former CSK player Ashwin, now retired, continues to contribute within the team's academy.

N Srinivasan Returns as CSK Chairman in Advisory Role

New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) Former BCCI President N Srinivasan is making a comeback to the realm of sports administration as the chairman of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), primarily in an advisory role. This development is being hailed as a significant advantage for the renowned franchise, according to the team's CEO, Kasi Viswanathan. The announcement comes following a board meeting held a few weeks ago.

The 80-year-old Srinivasan's appointment is regarded as a major gain for CSK. "See, it's a great boon for CSK and he's been the best administrator for us and I'm very happy that he's come back into CSK," said Viswanathan.

"He'll be in an advisory role only because he doesn't travel much, but we'll be in contact with him. Both of us are in Chennai only. So he's in day-to-day contact with us."

Viswanathan also mentioned that Srinivasan will oversee the management of CSK properties in SA20 and Major League Cricket (MLC). "He will be in charge of everything related to all CSK properties," added the CEO.

Meanwhile, former India spinner R Ashwin recently announced his retirement from the IPL, concluding his journey with CSK, the franchise that brought him to the limelight.

When queried about Ashwin's potential involvement with CSK's properties in SA20 and USA, Viswanathan revealed: "See, Ashwin is already in our academy. So we are already using him. As far as playing for us in SA20 and MLC is concerned, he is not registered for SA20. He is registered only with ILT20, where CSK doesn't have a presence."
