Bhopal, Nov 3 (PTI) - In an impressive acknowledgment of sports excellence, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced a handsome reward of Rs 1 crore for Kranti Goud, a pivotal member of the Indian women's cricket team that recently clinched its first-ever World Cup title.

The historic victory came as India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in a thrilling final held in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

"It fills me with immense pride to see our state's daughter and the nation's daughters shine on such a grand stage," expressed Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. "Their remarkable performance in the cricketing arena reflects the spirit of a progressive India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he shared with reporters.

The Chief Minister made a special mention of Kranti Goud, hailing from Ghuwara in Chhatarpur, Bundelkhand, acknowledging her significant contribution to India's World Cup success. "Kranti played an instrumental role in leading the team to the finals with her outstanding bowling skills," he stated.

"As a token of appreciation and encouragement, I am delighted to announce an incentive of Rs 1 crore from the state government for Kranti, Chhatarpur's proud daughter," the CM declared enthusiastically.

Kranti's achievement marks a monumental step forward for women in Indian sports, heralding a new era of excellence and recognition.
