Mahanaryaman Scindia: Transforming Madhya Pradesh Cricket

Mahanaryaman Scindia, the youngest MPCA president, focuses on enhancing cricket in Madhya Pradesh. His priorities include district-level and women's cricket, aiming for significant improvements. He's committed to successful ICC Women's World Cup preparations in Indore.

Mahanaryaman Scindia: Transforming Madhya Pradesh Cricket

New Delhi, Sep 4 (PTI) Mahanaryaman Scindia aims to concentrate his efforts on enhancing cricket in Madhya Pradesh rather than pursuing governance roles within the BCCI, after becoming the youngest president of the MPCA. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather Madhavrao Scindia and father, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the 29-year-old is determined to create significant improvements across all age groups.

He told PTI Videos, “Currently, my focus is clearly on Madhya Pradesh. I believe I have a significant mandate and I want to manage it effectively without taking on too much. My goal is to create an impact at the state level, and whatever opportunities arise in the future, I will address them then.”

Reflecting on his family's contribution to MP cricket, Scindia stated, "My grandfather held this position and made a considerable impact in terms of nurturing and discovering talent. My father played a vital role in implementing processes and professionalizing cricket administration in MPCA. Combining their contributions and adding value to their legacy is a tremendous pressure and responsibility for me."

Scindia sees his youth as an advantage. "Being young allows you to introduce fresh ideas, especially in a country like India, where 60–70% of the population is under 35. Having a balanced team with varied experience will bring about significant change and impact within MPCA,” he expressed.

His strategy for progress includes focusing on district-level cricket and advancing women's cricket. "Promoting cricket at the district level is a priority. Indore and potentially Gwalior set strong examples with their district club competitions, and I aspire to replicate such success across the state,” he mentioned.

Scindia’s immediate challenge involves preparations for the ICC Women’s World Cup starting on September 30, with Indore as one of the host cities.

“Preparations are underway. On my first day, I convened a meeting with the police, the commissioner’s team, and the municipal corporation to outline our expectations. We are assessing any security gaps within the stadium, and our next focus will be on executing the match successfully,” he concluded.
