Juventus May Sell Vlahovic, But He's Indispensable

Juventus may sell Vlahovic due to his high salary, yet his importance is evident with his recent match-winning performance.

Rome, Sep 1 (AP) – Juventus May Sell Vlahovic, But He's Indispensable

Rumors have circulated about Juventus being willing to sell their prolific center forward, Dusan Vlahovic, to any club willing to meet the price tag on the table. With his hefty salary weighing in at 12 million euros ($14 million) — the highest in Serie A — the Bianconeri appear eager to offload him before his contract concludes at the end of the season. Yet, despite the persistent transfer offers, Vlahovic seems set on staying in Turin for now.

Vlahovic proved his value once again by coming off the bench to score the winning goal for Juventus in their 1-0 victory over Genoa on Sunday. In the 73rd minute, he leapt above his marker to head in a corner from compatriot Filip Kostic—who himself remains unexpectedly with the team. Thanks to his contribution, Juventus has now secured six points, joining forces with Napoli, Cremonese, and Roma at the top of the Serie A standings after two games.

Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio played a crucial role in maintaining the win, making two vital saves during stoppage time. He first deflected a powerful shot from Caleb Ekuban around the post and later pushed away a header from Patrizio Masini that had ricocheted off the crossbar.

Inconsistent Inter Milan

On the other hand, Inter Milan, who impressed everyone with a 5-0 thrashing of Torino in the first round, faltered in their second match. The Nerazzurri suffered a 2-1 defeat against Udinese in their home opener on Sunday.

Inter grabbed an early lead with a goal from Denzel Dumfries, only for Dumfries to concede a penalty that Keinan Davis converted to level the score. Arthur Atta then capitalized on an error from Inter's side to give Udinese the lead just before halftime. The new coach, Cristian Chivu, still seems to be figuring out his squad. Inter's potential equalizer from Federico Dimarco was chalked off for offside.

Inter introduced highly touted 20-year-old striker Francesco Pio Esposito in the second half. However, his debut in Serie A was uneventful.

Elsewhere, Lazio delivered an impressive 4-0 win against Hellas Verona, with goals from Matteo Guendouzi, Mattia Zaccagni, Valentin Castellanos, and Boulaye Dia. Torino and Fiorentina played out a goalless draw.
