Watch: Virat Kohli asks Wankhede crowd to stop booing MI captain Hardik Pandya

During the 25th game of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli made a touching plea to the spectators to cease jeering Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya.

After suffering three straight losses the previous week, the five-time champions finally tasted success, and they maintained that momentum when they hosted Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday. Following Jasprit Bumrah's magnificent fifer, the visiting team put 196 on the scoreboard. Mumbai, in response, chased down with 27 balls remaining.

Pandya encountered the animosity of the MI supporters throughout the pursuit, who had welcomed him with disorderly conduct. Virat Kohli asked the Wankhede Stadium crowd to stop booing loudly and gestured for them to support the Mumbai Indians captain.

former India coach Ravi Shastri, who was on commentary, reckoned Rohit Sharma should have done what Kohli is doing now.

“Virat Kohli is doing what Rohit Sharma should have done openly by now,” Shastri said on-air.

RCB play their next match against SRH on April 15. And they would be desperate to win that match and stay in the hunt for a playoff finish.
