As Mumbai Indians grapple with a possible early exit from IPL 2024, senior bowler Piyush Chawla is of the opinion that bad seasons can happen to any team.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Chawla inferred, 'Well, I think as a unit, I won't say it's like about, you know, just the batting sometimes it's just the bowling. It's just the complete unit, because you must have often heard about the T20 is all about momentum. And just that we didn't get that momentum going this season and it can happen to any team. It's not like it's happening to us for the first time or any other team for the second time. '

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have been relegated to the ninth spot on the points table after enduring 8 losses from 11 games.

Chawla went on to give an example of the game against KKR where they failed to chase down 170, 'Like today, if you see people will think like 170 runs chasing on Wankhede wicket, it's going to be a cakewalk, but the wicket was different today. It was a bit sticky, the ball was bit stopping and coming.'

With acceptance on his mind for their dismal 2024 performance, Chawla concluded, 'When sometimes the form is not with you, as a team, as a unit so these things can happen. But it hurts as well, but you have to accept that.'
