Updated IPL 2022 points table after Punjab vs Bangalore match on May 13; orange, purple cap holders

Punjab Kings dented Royal Challengers Bangalore's playoffs chances as they handed the Faf du Plessis-led side a massive 54-run defeat on Friday (May 13). Meanwhile, Punjab kept their playoffs hope alive as their net run rate is positive now and they have to win their remaining two matches to be in the race of playoffs given five teams could end the league stage on 16 points.

Bangalore, on the other hand, lost their chance to finish the league stage as the top two teams. Now they need to win their last league game against Gujarat Titans on May 19 and see how other teams fare in their matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with each other in a crucial game on May 14. SRH vs KKR game would decide the fate of other teams as well given a Hyderabad win on Saturday would knock Kolkata out of playoffs' race.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans continue to top the IPL 2022 points table. The Hardik Pandya-led side is the first team in IPL 2022 to qualify for playoffs. Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers are placed second, third, and fourth spot respectively on the points table.

Moreover, Jos Buttler continues to be the leading run-scorer in IPL 2022 with 625 runs in 12 games and currently holding the orange cap. Wanindu Hasaranga is currently holding the purple cap with 23 wickets in 13 matches. Hasaraga and Yuzvendra Chahal have the same number of wickets (23) but the former's economy rate is better than Chahal. Chahal has 23 wickets in 12 games.
