On 3rd October, last year when Umran Malik made his IPL debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 22-year-old clocked a sensational 150 kmph in his first-ever IPL over. In May 2022, the impressive pace of the Jammu & Kashmir-based cricketer has earned him a much-anticipated spot in the Indian T20 team for the upcoming 5-match South Africa T20 series.

Umran Malik who makes 150kmph look like a piece of cake will become the 2nd cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir to represent India after Parvez Rasool. The selection committee right away picked up the right-arm fast bowler whose hostile speed made heads turn this year too. In the 15th edition of the IPL, Malik’s 157 kmph delivery against Delhi Capitals made a splash as it made many believe that he could break Shoaib Akhtar & Brett Lee’s 160kmph record.

While in his debut season, the young speedster got 2 wickets in 3 games, this season, Malik, a son of a fruitseller, who was being trained under Dale Steyn picked a total of 22 wickets in 14 games. In all the 14 games he played for SRH who had retained him before the IPL 2022 mega auctions, the sensational bowler was awarded the ‘fastest delivery of the match’ this season. Malik though leaked runs, but his promising pace has the potential to upset any line-up in the world.
