Road to IPL 2022 final: 3 reasons why Gujarat Titans emerge as a top team in their inaugural IPL season

Written off by many critics after the mega auction, Gujarat Titans did the unthinkable as they marched into IPL 2022 Final after winning Qualifier 1 against the Rajasthan Royals. From Hardik Pandya's captaincy to different players coming out to take charge of the team, here are the 3 big reasons behind GT's success.

Cool-headed captaincy from Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya emerged as one of the best cool-headed captains this season. Hardik too became a backbone to the team at the number 4 batting position as he curbed his natural instinct of going hard and constructed his inning in a way that every other batter could bat around him.

Finishers rescued Titans on most occasions

Rahul Tewatia and David rescued their team during multiple close encounters in the league stages. Tewatia's two back-to-back sixes of Odean Smith easily define the Titans' never die approach. Rashid Khan was another player who had some extraordinary performances in finishing the game with the bat.

Pack of match-winning bowlers

Mohammed Shami along with Lockie Ferguson and Alzarri Joseph helped Gujarat put pressure on opposition openers and get rid of them early. Unlike the past seasons, Shami remained consistent with both new and old balls. Rashid Khan also justified his price tag and picked wickets and also kept the scoring rate in check.
