Mohammed Siraj IPL 2023: When RCB pace spearhead almost quit cricket

Experts call Mohammed Siraj one of the most improved bowlers of the current generation. The fast bowler may be picking up wickets at will now but it wasn't the case a couple of years back.

When Siraj was picked up by RCB back in 2018, he was nowhere near the bowler he is now.

'No one would have faced failures like I did,' Siraj recalled during an episode of Breakfast with Champions.

'I was really flustered. Despite working so hard in life I was still not doing well,' he added.

The fast bowler then revealed that he almost quit cricket back then.

'During the lockdown due to Covid-19, I realised I’ll dedicate one year to cricket. If I play well, I’ll continue. Else I’ll quit cricket and take up some other job,' Siraj said.

He further revealed that in the 1 year he gave himself, Siraj worked a lot on his fitness and practised bowling daily.

'When I resumed playing, I felt a remarkable difference,' concluded Siraj, who is now not just RCB's but one of Team India's bowling pillars in all 3 departments of the game.
