IPL 2024, DC vs LSG: Hat-trick of defeats put Lucknow on the brink of elimination

The Luknow Super Giants needed to win on Tuesday in order to have a bright chance of making it to IPL 2024 playoffs but the Delhi Capitals beat LSG by 19 runs to put them on the brink of elimination.

KL Rahul's decision to bowl first backfired as DC posted a mammoth 208/4 on back of a half-century each by Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs.

Like in recent games, LSG were once again off to a disastrous start as their top order fell like a pack of cards. The visitors were reduced to 44/4 but that's when Nicholas Pooran decided to counter attack.

He blasted a fiery fifty but LSG kept loosing wickets. When Pooran fell for a 27-ball-61 it seemed like the game would be over soon but Arshad Khan saved Lucknow some embarrassment and smashed a fluent 58.

However, just 2 batters couldn't take LSG over the finish line as they eventually managed 189/9.

A hat-trick of defeats means that their campaign is almost over. Same is the case with DC who are also hanging by a thread.
