IPL 2023: Impact player rule makes captaincy difficult- Hardik Pandya

While CSK's Tushar Deshpande was the first impact player of IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans decided to bring in Sai Sudharsan as their impact player after Kane Williamson had to leave the ground due to injury.

The impact player rule introduced in IPL for the first time in 2023 edition might seem helpful, but skipper Hardik Pandya feels that it has made the captaincy job difficult.

'When you have too many options, you have to pick the right option and I think because of this reason, someone will bowl less', Pandya said.

The 10 teams, this season will have the advantage of making a tactical substitution as an impact player who can come in to bat or bowl as needed.
