On ESPNcricinfo's T20 Time Out, Bishop said that Sanju is wasting good form and opportunity to score runs to press for an international recall by poor shot selection.

Former New Zealand cricketer Daniel Vettori agreed with Bishop and said that Samson is at his best when he's striking down the ground.

Talking about Samson's chances of an India recall, Vettori said, "Particularly if he leads Rajasthan to the final or wins it, I think that will play a huge part in a recall."

Sanju Samson has scored 228 runs in 8 matches so far in IPL 2022 but has been overshadowed by Jos Buttler's presence.
