IPL 2022, RR vs DC: Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in a run-fest

On a dramatic night at Wankhede Stadium, Rajasthan Royals (RR) sealed the high-scoring game by 15 runs as Delhi Capitals failed to chase down a 223-run target in a last-over thriller on Friday.

Delhi were off to a great start with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw hitting boundaries with ease before Prasidh Krishan cut short Warner's stay in the middle. Rishabh Pant joined Shaw in the middle after Sarfaraz's wicket. Pant and Shaw then stitched a 51-run stand but the latter got out in search of big runs. Pant too failed to take a balanced approach in a tall chase and threw his wicket away.

Rajasthan kept on taking wickets at regular intervals but Lalit Yadav kept his team in the game with some lusty blows. Prasidh Krishna returned in the penultimate over and bowled a wicket maiden and it seemed Rajasthan would register a big win. But the dramatic night at Mumbai's iconic ground kept on surprising the cricket fans. With 36 runs needed off the 6 deliveries, Rovman Powell smacked three consecutive sixes off the first three balls and gave a glimmer of hope to Delhi. However, a hot-headed approach by captain Rishabh Pant from the dugout on a suspected no-ball took all the momentum away from Delhi as Powell failed to connect the next two balls.

Earlier, Jos Buttler produced yet another masterclass century and stitched a 155-run opening stand with Devdutt Padikkal. While Sanju Samson's 49-run cameo ensured that Rajasthan would post a score in excess of 200 runs on a batting paradise. Delhi bowlers failed to stop the run flow as Buttler smashed them all-round the park.
