Azeem Rafiq, a former British Asian cricketer whose name has become synonymous with the fight against racism in the country after he took on his former club Yorkshire, shared the ordeal of Indian fans who had tweeted out their grievances.
Taking immediate cognisance, the Edgbaston officials along with the England &amp; Wales Cricket Board (ECB) responded to his tweets and apologised. Apart from this, India have also been fined 40% of their match fee for the offence.
India were placed 3rd before the rescheduled 5th Test against England and are now placed 4th on the WTC standings with 75 points (point percentage of 52.08). Australia and South Africa are placed first & second respectively.
Earlier, England chased down their record-378 runs target against India at Edgbaston which helped the hosts to draw the series 2-2 and also lifted them to the 7th spot on the WTC table.
Having lost the Test against England, India now have lost 4 matches, won 6 and drawn 2 in this cycle of WTC.
