IPL 2024, CSK vs LSG: Marcus Stoinis steals CSK's thunder with his maiden IPL ton

Stoinis turned the game on its head with his maiden IPL hundred. He smashed an unbeaten 123 off just 63 balls to help his side beat CSK for the 2nd time in 4 days.

IPL 2024, CSK vs LSG: Marcus Stoinis steals CSK's thunder with his maiden IPL ton

A target of 211 at the Chepauk is no less than a battle but Marcus Stoinis decided to fight and how. The Hulk entered the run chase in the first over itself and when he left, the Lucknow Super Giants had beaten the Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets and 3 balls left.

KL Rahul's decision to put CSK into bat was the right call but despite the hosts losing Ajinkya Rahane for just 1, Chennai posted a healthy 210/4.

While Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed his 2nd century of the IPL, it was Shivam Dube's fiery 66 that helped CSK reach such a huge total.

LSG had a disastrous start to their run-chase as they lost Quinton de Kock for a duck and skipper KL Rahul was also dismissed for 16.

That's when Stoinis turned the game on its head with his maiden IPL hundred. He smashed an unbeaten 124 off just 63 balls to help his side beat CSK for the 2nd time in 4 days.

Interestingly, it is now the biggest individual score at the Chepauk in the history of the IPL and the highest-successful run-chase at this ground.

Nicholas Pooran too chipped in with a 15-ball-34 as CSK lost their first home game this season. Interestingly, the Super Kings have managed to beat LSG just once in 5 meetings in the IPL so far.

While Lucknow has now won 2 consecutive games, CSK have lost 2 in a row with a couple of home games left.
