IPL 2023, MI vs RCB: Suryakumar Yadav's 83 sees Mumbai chase down mammoth score

It took Rohit Sharma’s men 5 tries before they could prevail over the Royal Challengers Bangalore and what better place to seize this win than at home?

Wankhede Stadium was a sight to witness on Tuesday evening as hosts Mumbai Indians chased down a mammoth target for the second time.

After not finding his feet at the beginning of the season, Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav arrived at the party and how!

Fans were in for a treat as the right-handed batter played an explosive knock, smashing 83 runs in mere 35 balls.

Accompanying him were youngsters Ishan Kishan and Nehal Wadhera.

Opener Kishan took RCB bowlers to the cleaners hitting four 4s and as many sixes, using only 21 deliveries to close in on his half-century. But the southpaw lost his wicket before he could reach the milestone.

Nehal Wadhera has had an impressive IPL 2023 so far and it was the 22-year-old who finished the game off in style with a six, simultaneously also reaching his second consecutive 50 of the season.

With this spectacular win over the Bangalore-based team, Mumbai Indians have risen to the 3rd spot, intensifying the play-off race for this year.

On the other hand, it was the second time RCB was unable to defend a massive total, despite a bowling unit consisting of world-class bowlers like Wanindu Hasaranga and Mohd Siraj.

Orange cap holder and Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis in tandem with Glenn Maxwell had powered RCB to 199, scoring 65 and 68 respectively, in the process.

But alas, their efforts were in vain, once again.
