IPL 2023, LSG vs RCB: Lucknow crumble at home, fall short of 127-run target by 18 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore completed their revenge against Lucknow Super Giants as the visitors beat LSG by 18 runs in a low scoring encounter at the Ekana on Monday.

Deciding to bat first, RCB openers Virat Kohli (31) & skipper Faf du Plessis (44) started off with an opening 62 run stand which was broken in the 9th over when Kohli was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi.

LSG though were also dealt with a body blow as skipper KL Rahul walked off with a hamstring injury in the 2nd over of the match itself.

The reliance on the top order clearly showed once again for the visitors as Kohli & Du Plessis' collective 75 runs constituted for more than 50% of the total runs scored by the side.

Naveen-ul-Haq's 3/30 along with 2 wickets each for Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra saw RCB post 126/9 from their 20 overs.

Chasing a gettable 127, Lucknow got off to poor start when they lost opener Kyle Mayers on a duck.

His opening partner Ayush Badoni (4) and Krunal Pandya (14) were also sent back to the pavilion at a collective total of just 18 runs.

With wickets coming thick and fast, the home team crumbled to 77/8 in the 15th over.
