IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders appoint Nitish Rana as captain

While the names of Sunil Narine & Shardul Thakur were doing the rounds, KKR announced Nitish Rana as their new captain on Instagram. 

IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders have appointed Nitish Rana as captain for the upcoming season in the absence of regular skipper Shreyas Iyer.

The franchise made the announcement through a video on KKR's Instagram channel.

While the franchise is hopeful that Iyer might play some part towards the end of the IPL, there's no clarity on his availability yet.

And Rana, who has been part of the Knight Riders' setup since 2018, pipped the likes of Sunil Narine & Shardul Thakur to become the leader of the Men in Purple & Gold.
