India's Winning Streak in Women's World Cup Intimidates Rivals: Rodrigues

India's unbeaten run in the Women's World Cup is seen as intimidating by opponents, according to Jemimah Rodrigues. The team's depth in batting and emergence of new match-winners are key factors, while patience for a perfect game is advised.

India's Winning Streak in Women's World Cup Intimidates Rivals: Rodrigues

Visakhapatnam, Oct 8 (PTI) Middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues commented on Wednesday that India's ongoing winning streak in the Women's World Cup might be "scary" for their opponents. Despite not yet playing a "perfect game," the team remains unbeaten. Rodrigues expressed her satisfaction with the emergence of new match-winners in the squad. India faced challenges against both Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but resilient performances from the lower order enabled them to come out victorious.

Rodrigues remarked, "It's intimidating for the opponents to realize that we haven’t played our perfect match yet, but we’re still winning. We're still searching for that perfect game, and in such lengthy tournaments, it’s crucial to peak at the right time." She emphasized that India is on the right track, having contributions from both the top-order and middle-order, and finding encouragement in knowing that they continue to win without having played their best game.

However, Rodrigues advised the team to remain patient about achieving a flawless performance. "Each player needs to step up, be ready to lead the team to victory, but we shouldn't be overly eager for that perfect match. It's more important to focus on doing our jobs well, and that performance will eventually come," she added.

Rodrigues wasn't particularly concerned about India's opening duo, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, not firing yet in the tournament. "If you've watched all the matches so far, our opening partnership has been the strongest. Pratika and Smriti, as a pair, have surpassed 1000 runs in women’s cricket. Hence, the opposing teams know we have depth in our batting lineup to the end," she stated.

She continued, noting the contribution of other players like Amanjot Kaur, Dipti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh when the top order didn’t perform. Significantly, Rodrigues herself is yet to deliver a standout performance with the bat, but the 25-year-old is more focused on team goals. She reflected, "In the first match, the ball was exceptional. In the second game, though I didn't score personally, my focus was on the team's success. That tricky wicket in Colombo required us to lay a good foundation to achieve a challenging target."

Rodrigues spoke about adapting to the No. 5 batting position, a role she’s unaccustomed to. "In T20s, I started batting in the middle order. Though initially uncertain, I accepted the responsibility because the team needed it. The adjustment was more mental than technical. For instance, if entering at number 5 requires coping with an asking rate of 9 or 10, am I prepared? The strategy becomes understanding what works, and if a shot isn’t possible, figuring out how to snatch a single calmly."

The batter also updated on Amanjot Kaur's health, "She only suffered from a fever, not an injury, and she appears to be recovering well.".lwjgl sequential assistant to=browser codeIn Browser's input box, what is the question you would like me to ask or the phrase to search for?"Unknown documentation"
