Indian Cricket Team Opts for Quiet Series Draw Celebration

The Indian cricket team celebrated their recent series draw with quiet family times instead of public festivities, marking their progress post-retirement of cricket icons. While key players have returned to India, some enjoyed moments in London, preparing for future challenges.

Indian Cricket Team Opts for Quiet Series Draw Celebration

London, Aug 5 (PTI) – The Indian cricket team celebrated their series draw at The Oval in an unexpected manner, opting for a quiet evening rather than a jubilant celebration. The squad members, including pivotal player Mohammed Siraj, departed for India less than 24 hours after they clinched the dramatic series finale.

The team boarded an Emirates flight, with Siraj, the hero of the match, heading directly to Hyderabad after a layover in Dubai. Players like Arshdeep Singh and Shardul Thakur followed the same route, heading to their respective homes.

Some of the team, however, decided to remain in England for a brief respite. Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna, among others, were spotted with their families in the vibrant streets of London. Kuldeep Yadav, who did not play, was seen socializing with former Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla.

Jasprit Bumrah, absent from the final match due to workload management, was also released during the game. A BCCI insider mentioned, "There were no celebrations last night. The series was long and taxing, and players either spent time with families or alone. Most are returning to India; some have other plans."

For Shubman Gill and his inexperienced squad, drawing the series in England marked a significant milestone, especially following the retirements of cricket icons Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The team seems to have moved on from its famous predecessors.

India's subsequent major challenge will be the Asia Cup in the UAE next month.
