Manchester, July 23 (PTI) India made a promising start on the opening day of the fourth Test against England, reaching a score of 78 without loss by lunch. The match, held on Wednesday, saw India's openers build a solid foundation against the English bowlers.

First Innings Details: Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 36, while his partner KL Rahul was also there, not out on 40. Extras contributed minimally to the total with just 2 runs coming from a leg-bye and a wide.

Bowling Figures: England's bowling attack, led by Chris Woakes, attempted to break the opening stand but found little success. Woakes bowled economically with figures of 8 overs for 24 runs without a wicket. Jofra Archer was equally restrictive, conceding only 15 runs in his 8 overs.
