India's Determined Batting in ODI Against Australia Led by Rohit and Iyer

Adelaide, Oct 23 (PTI) – India displayed a resilient batting performance in the second ODI against Australia, amassing a total of 264 for nine, thanks to former captain Rohit Sharma's cautious 73 and Shreyas Iyer's solid 61. Sent in to bat first, Rohit accumulated his runs off 97 deliveries, featuring seven boundaries and two sixes, while Iyer contributed with a 77-ball 61 adorned with seven fours.

Virat Kohli, making a return, was dismissed for a golden duck, adding to the day's drama. However, Axar Patel played a crucial role with a 44-run knock off 41 balls, bolstering India’s innings.

Nearing the conclusion of their innings, Harshit Rana (24 not out) alongside Arshdeep Singh (13) put together a crucial 37-run partnership for the ninth wicket, propelling India to a competitive total.

On the bowling front, Australia’s leg-spinner Adam Zampa showcased his prowess by clinching four wickets for 60 runs from his allotted 10 overs. Right-arm pacer Xavier Bartlett also delivered an impressive performance, capturing three wickets for 39 runs, including the prized dismissal of Kohli.

India's efforts aim to level the three-match series 0-1, following their rain-affected defeat by seven runs via the DLS method in the opening ODI.

Brief Scores: India: 264 for 9 in 50 overs (Rohit Sharma 73, Shreyas Iyer 61, Axar Patel 44; Adam Zampa 4/60, Xavier Bartlett 3/39).
