Harmanpreet's Hat-trick Leads India to 4-3 Win Over China

Rajgir (Bihar), Aug 29: In a thrilling encounter at the Asian Cup, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Singh delivered a standout performance, scoring a hat-trick of penalty corners to lead India to a 4–3 victory over China in their Pool A opener on Friday.

Harmanpreet struck in the 20th, 33rd, and 47th minutes, while Jugraj Singh added another goal in the 18th minute to bolster India's attack.

For China, Du Shihao scored in the 12th minute, while Chen Benhai and Gao Jiesheng found the net in the 35th and 42nd minutes, respectively.

India initially trailed 0-1 after the first quarter, but rallied with two quick goals within two minutes, establishing a 2-1 lead at halftime.

The Indian side enhanced their advantage when Harmanpreet executed a brilliant drag flick, finding the net despite a deflection from the Chinese goalkeeper's hand. However, China retaliated with Benhai converting a penalty corner, bringing the match to a tie heading into the final quarter.

Proving crucial in the clutch moments, Harmanpreet once again capitalized on a penalty corner opportunity, securing the winning margin for India.
