New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) Mukesh Nelavalli triumphed in the men's 25m pistol event, securing the gold medal, as Tejaswani Singh claimed silver in the women's division. This stellar performance helped India clinch the top spot on the medals table at the ISSF Junior World Cup on Wednesday.

Mukesh, who is the junior world champion in this non-Olympic category, built on his precision stage score of 289 from the previous day, delivering a remarkable 296 in the rapid-fire stage, resulting in a total of 585, which earned him the gold.

Aleksandr Kovalev, competing as an Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN), took the silver with 577 points, having previously secured the 25m rapid-fire pistol gold earlier in the tournament. Meanwhile, Sahil Choudhary added to India's success with a bronze, achieving a score of 573.

India topped the medals tally with a total of 19 medals in Olympic events, consisting of six gold, eight silver, and five bronze medals. The AIN competitors followed in second place with 10 medals, including four gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.
