India Nears Series Whitewash with Strong Second Test Finish

New Delhi, Oct 13 (PTI) – India is on the brink of securing a series whitewash, needing just 58 more runs to win as they wrapped up day four of the second Test at 63 for one on Monday.

Chasing a modest target of 121, India faced an early setback with the dismissal of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for 8. However, KL Rahul, currently unbeaten on 25, alongside Sai Sudharsan, who is on 30 not out, anchored the innings and kept India firmly on the path to victory.

Earlier in the day, the West Indies demonstrated commendable resilience, particularly through a tenacious 79-run partnership for the last wicket between Justin Greaves, who remained not out at 50, and Jayden Seales with his 32. This stand posed a considerable challenge for India before Jasprit Bumrah, leading the pace attack, managed to break through and dismiss Seales.

India took the lead in the series after emerging victorious in the first Test in Ahmedabad, winning by an innings and 140 runs.

Brief Scores: India 518/5 declared and 63 for 1 in 18 overs (Sai Sudharsan 30 not out; Jomel Warrican 1/15)

West Indies 248 and 390 in 118.5 overs (John Campbell 115, Shai Hope 103; Kuldeep Yadav 3/104, Jasprit Bumrah 3/44).
