India Sweeps Asian Squash Doubles Championships with Triple Victory

In a stunning performance at the second Asian Squash Doubles Championships on Thursday, India dominated the competition by capturing titles in the men's, women's, and mixed events. The men’s doubles final saw the top-seeded Indian duo of Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar overcome an initial setback to triumph over Pakistan's Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal. Despite losing the first set, Singh and Senthilkumar rallied to win 2-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-5) in a gripping 88-minute match.

Their journey to the final included a victory against Hong Kong's Chi Him Wong and Ming Hong Tang in the semifinals. In women's doubles, the second-seeded pair of Joshana Chinappa and Anahat Singh demonstrated resilience as they too came from behind to defeat Malaysia's Ainaa Amani and Xin Ying Yee 2-1 (8-11, 11-9, 11-10) in a brisk 35-minute finale. The duo had advanced to the final after besting Hong Kong’s Po Yui Kirstie Wong and Yee Lam Toby Tse. India continued its winning streak in the mixed doubles category with top seeds Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh securing a clean sweep.

They achieved a straight-set victory over Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold and Ameeshenraj Chandaran, winning 2-0 (11-9, 11-7) in just 28 minutes. This victory marked the second title for the pair at these championships, following their semifinal win against local favorites Ainaa Amani and Syafiq Kamal. This remarkable achievement underscores India's growing prowess in the squash arena, as both seasoned players and emerging talents showcase their skills on the continental stage.
