The only undefeated team, India, have again reclaimed the top spot with their 7th straight win at the marquee tournament.

The 2023 ODI World Cup hosts India who are at the crest of the wave ran riot at Wankhede stadium as they not only destroyed Sri Lanka but the Men in Blue also became the first team to qualify for the semifinals with a thunderous 302-run win.

Sent in to bat first, the Indian batters did not need a ton-hitter to steal the show in the entertainment capital of India.

After losing the in form Rohit Sharma early, Indian batters piled miseries on the Lankans. 3 batters - Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, all missed their centuries by close margins, but their stunning scores of 92, 88 and 82 respectively took India to a formidable 357-run total. With a superb 5-wicket haul, Dilshan Madushanka was the only bowler who turned up for the grappling Kusal Mendis' men.

In reply, the Indian pacers choked Sri Lanka. Mohammed Shami who picked his 3rd 5 wicket haul in the World Cup ran through the Lankan line-up alongside Mohammed Siraj, who took 3 wickets. The duo wrapped up the Islanders' innings in 19.4 overs where they could somehow only manage an embarrassing 55. Kasun Rajitha who came when the Lankans were 8 down, turned out to be their top scorer with 14.

This was the 4th biggest victory in the history of ODIs as well. The only undefeated team, India, have again reclaimed the top spot with their 7th straight win at the marquee tournament.
