IND vs BAN: Record-breaker Ishan Kishan smashes double hundred against Bangladesh

A magical knock!

The quickest double hundred in ODIs - Ishan Kishan was on fire in Chattogram in the final ODI against Bangladesh.

The youngest player to score an ODI double ton, 24-year-old Kishan joined an elite list that includes Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (3), Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill & Fakhar Zaman.

6 of the 9 ODI double-hundreds have now been scored by Indians, with Rohit Sharma the only cricketer to have reached the 200-run mark more than once. The Indian captain, who is missing from action due to injury, has breached the record landmark on three occasions previously.

So, it was only fitting that Kishan, who replaced the injured Rohit in the XI, converted his maiden ODI hundred into a double ton.

His innings progression was also stunning. While he got to his 100 in 85 deliveries, he took just 41 balls to go from 100 to 200. He bludgeoned 24 fours and 10 sixes during his stay at the crease.

With a total of 126 balls taken for 200, the southpaw also broke Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest double ton in the format. The Universe Boss had taken 138 deliveries to reach the milestone against Zimbabwe at the 2015 ODI World Cup.

While India may have lost the series already, Kishan’s knock surely would help the wounds of the first two one-dayers heal faster.
