IND vs AUS 4th Test: Virat Kohli gets the monkey off his back, scores 1st Test ton since November 2019

Over 3 years. Time since Virat Kohli reached triple figures in Test cricket but that long wait finally ended in the 4th Test vs Australia.

A rejuvenated Virat continued with his resurgence as he smashed his 28th Test ton in the first innings of the Ahmedabad Test.

While the ex-captain had found his way back in limited overs cricket, he finally got the monkey off his back in Tests too. Kohli who now has 75 hundreds from 494 matches, had scored a Test ton before this in November 2019.

The 34-year-old cautiously paved his way to his 28th Test 100 against Australia hitting only 7 fours to reach the mark.

Though the batting wizard is 25 centuries behind Sachin Tendulkar's incredible milestone of 100 hundreds, it took him a lesser number of innings to reach 75 hundreds. While Virat Kohli took 552 innings, the Master Blaster hit his 75th 100 in his 566th inning.

En route to his milestone, Virat also became the fifth Indian batter to score 4000 Test runs at home. Apart from that, Kohli surpassed West Indies legend Brian Lara to become the second-highest scorer against Australia in international cricket.
