IOC President, Thomas Bach, reaffirmed the ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics after an IOC board meeting on Thursday in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The organisation said they will "monitor" the situation leading up to the Games in France next year, but for the time being, they cannot call a time on if they will change their decision.

4-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face defending champions Gujarat Titans in the first match of IPL 2023 on Friday, in Ahmedabad.
Emotions will run high as it will be a clash between the legendary MS Dhoni and one of his biggest admirers Hardik Pandya.
The two may share a great bond off the field but on it, the battle will be fierce. While Dhoni would be eager to start what is likely to be his last season on a high, Hardik would be itching to prove that GT's dream run in the inaugural season wasn't a flash in the pan.

While the majority of overseas stars will be available from the start of the IPL season, players from South Africa &amp; Sri Lanka will miss the first few matches for their franchises.
The Proteas will be playing the remaining two ODIs from their Covid-interrupted series with the Netherlands till April 2. And the South Africans will be at full strength at home to give themselves the best chance of qualifying for the World Cup in India. A few of them will surely miss the first 2 matches for their franchises.
Three Sri Lankan stars too will be unavailable for initial rounds. Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB), Maheesh Theekshana &amp; Matheesha Pathirana (both CSK) are currently in New Zealand. While all the IPL contracted Kiwi players aren&rsquo;t a part of the series, the three Lankan stars are part of the limited-overs leg that only finishes on April 8.

A season of many firsts, #IPL2023 is set to introduce a number of changes never seen before at the world's biggest T20 competition.

Here's WHAT'S NEW!

Teams will be allowed to use an impact player at any time of the match, where they can replace a player from the starting XI with one of the five substitutes named at the toss.

The IPL is back!
And the 2023 edition will see many firsts which will add more excitement to the contests.
For one, teams will now pick their XIs after the toss, which means they'll have two sets of Playing XIs ready - one for if they're bowling and one for if they're batting.
And then there's the Impact Player rule, where teams will now name 5 substitutes in addition to their playing XIs. And they will be allowed to replace any of their players in the starting XI with one of those 5 substitutes at any point in the match. However, the impact player has to be an Indian if the team already has 4 overseas stars. Only when there are three or fewer foreigners in the XI, the team will be allowed to introduce another as an impact player.
Not to forget, the DRS has also undergone a revamp. Like in the Women's Premier League, the captains can now use DRS reviews to challenge no-ball &amp; wide calls made by the on-field umpires.
These rule changes will surely add even more value to the most popular T20 competition in the world.&nbsp;
