'Pakistan players have not received salaries': former captain Rashid Latif reveals

Rashid Latif questioned PCB's move of releasing a press statement where they hinted that Babar Azam might lose his captainship.

'Pakistan players have not received salaries': former captain Rashid Latif reveals

While Pakistan is struggling economically, former cricket captain Rashid Latif has claimed that the nation's incumbent team which is currently participating in the Cricket World Cup 2023 in India is without salary.

Revealing that the players have not received their salaries for 5 months, Latif questioned, "how will they play?"

The Babar Azam-led side has slumped to 4 back-to-back losses and are on the verge of elimination from the tournament. Latif said Pakistan Cricket Board's chief, Zaka Ashraf, is also not responding to the Babar's messages.

Latif, who also asserted that PCB may reconsider the central contracts that players have signed, said, "Babar is messaging Salman Naseer (Chief Operating Officer), he is messaging Usman Walha (Director – International Cricket). So, what is the reason for not responding to their captain? Then, you release a press statement."

The Pakistan Cricket Board, which seem disappointed with Babar's performance as a captain, had put out a statement before their South Africa game, wherein they hinted that the right-hand batter might lose his captainship.

Having lost 4 out of their 6 games, Pakistan face Bangladesh on October 31.
