PAK vs SA: Shadab Khan suffers freak injury, replaced by concussion substitute Usama Mir

Pakistan's World Cup campaign suffered yet another setback as their vice-captain, Shadab Khan, was forced to leave the field due to a freak injury during the match against South Africa in Chennai.

Unfortunately, Pakistan's plans were disrupted just on the second ball that saw Temba Bavuma push for a quick run after playing the ball towards mid-on, where Shadab was fielding.

In an attempt to run out Bavuma, Shadab aggressively attacked the ball and threw it towards the non-striker's end while being off-balance. During this process, he landed awkwardly on his shoulder, and his head appeared to jerk into the ground.

Concerned about the severity of the injury, physiotherapists rushed to the scene, and a stretcher was prepared. However, to the relief of Pakistan's supporters, Shadab managed to stand up after a brief moment and left the field cautiously with assistance.

Initially, there were hopes that Shadab might return to the game, as he was seen warming up beside the playing area. However, he was subsequently ruled out due to the injury, leading to his replacement in the XI by leg-spinner Usama Mir, who came on as a concussion substitute.
