Watch Highlights: Mohd Shami takes 7 as India reach World Cup final after Kohli's record 50th ODI century

A record-breaking performance by Virat Kohli and Mohd Shami helped India successfully seek revenge for the bitter loss in the 2019 World Cup semifinal as they marched into the 4th ODI World Cup final with a thumping 70-run win against New Zealand at Wankhede.

After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma's aggressive start provided the foundation for India's success. With Kohli's stellar 117 off 113 balls that helped him go past Sachin Tendulkar's 49-ODI centuries, Shubman Gill's 80, laced with 8 4s and 3 6s and Shreyas Iyer's special 70-ball 105, India set an imposing target of 398.

Later, Shami got rid of dangerous openers Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra early in the innings, but the Kiwis showed intent with a crucial 181-run stand between captain Kane Williamson (69) and centurion Daryl Mitchell.

India needed a wicket to break the duo's momentum and incredible Shami came to rescue the team from the precarious situation with 2 wickets in the 33rd over. He ousted Williamson and Tom Latham in the same over which also saw him complete 50 wickets in the World Cup.

From thereon, he alongside Kuldeep Yadav rattled the dispirited Black Caps who lost wickets in quick succession. The pacer picked 3 more wickets to complete his 7 wicket haul and also hand India their straight 10th victory in the ongoing World Cup.
