Long before Glenn Maxwell, Belinda Clark was Australia's first ODI double centurion | Cricket World Cup

Glenn Maxwell's historic double century against Afghanistan will not be forgotten for ages to come. The sensational batter shattered and created several records during his magnificent knock.

But as world cricket celebrates Australia's first Men's ODI double centurion, several mistakenly called him the nation's first-ever batter to manage a 200+ score.

However, that is not the case, as many avid fans rightly pointed out.

Legendary captain of the women's team, Belinda Clark, was the Aussies' first ODI double-centurion, achieving this feat nearly 26 years before Maxwell, in 1997.

It was a World Cup and Clark finished with an unbeaten 229 against Denmark, a tournament they eventually went on to win.

But despite their record-making knocks, the most striking detail that lends itself to history is that both Clark and Maxwell achieved their respective feats in the same city.

Clark played at a ground in Mumbai's Bandra while Maxwell's 200 came at the Wankhede Stadium.

Moments after Australia clinched victory against Afghanistan on November 7, the country's cricket board put out a congratulatory message for Glenn Maxwell, while also mentioning Belinda Clark's achievement.
