Jasprit Bumrah takes 4 as India restrict Afghanistan to 272 after Shahidi,Omarzai fifties | World Cup 2023

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was at his best against Afghanistan in India's second world Cup match in Delhi.

The fast bowler took 4/39 in his 10 overs to help India make a comeback in the death overs. And as a result, the visitors were restricted to 272.

Apart from Bumrah, Hardik Pandya scalped 2 and Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav took one each.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan were off to a steady start till Jasprit Bumrah drew first blood to send Ibrahim Zadran back.

After that, the Blue Tigers lost two wickets in quick succession in the 13th and 14th overs respectively before Azmatullah Omarzai and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi stitched up a solid 121-run partnership for the 4th wicket.

Omarzai went on to score a 62 off 69 balls while Shahidi led with a strong 88-ball 80.

But after Omarzai's wicket, Afghanistan lost their momentum as batters dropped one after the other in the final 15 overs, all thanks to Jasprit Bumrah and Co.
