ICC World Cup 2023 points table: India remain 2nd despite Virat Kohli's hundred | IND VS BAN

Virat Kohli's remarkable century proved insufficient for the Indian cricket team to ascend to the coveted top position in the points table of the ODI World Cup 2023. As it stands, New Zealand continues to occupy the throne.

Despite India securing their fourth consecutive victory in as many matches, they find themselves situated in the second spot within the table. Their latest triumph in Pune, a resounding seven-wicket win, further fortified their position. The Net Run Rate, an essential tiebreaker, witnessed a significant boost and now stands at an impressive +1.659 after the conclusion of the 17th match of the tournament.

Unfortunately, the scenario is quite different for Bangladesh, who are currently enduring a series of setbacks with their third consecutive loss. This string of defeats has caused them to tumble from the 6th position to the 7th on the points table. With only 2 points to their name and a disheartening Net Run Rate of -0.784, the road to recovery appears steep for the Bangladeshi squad.

The top four teams in the rankings have remained consistent, with no new contenders making their presence felt. At the helm, New Zealand firmly holds the first position, boasting 8 points and an impressive Net Run Rate of +1.923. India follows closely in second place, while South Africa and Pakistan occupy the 3rd and 4th spots on the table, respectively.
